Westpac customers offered more convenience for cash transactions

Westpac customers offered more convenience for cash transactions

Westpac customers will have more bank branches available for cash transactions as part of a new plan to support customer accessibility.

The company said customers can visit any Westpac, St George, BankSA or Bank of Melbourne branch across Australia for their cash transactions, with new technology now connecting the branch network.

“This completes a major piece of work as we integrate technology across Westpac Group brands”, CEO Peter King said.

“We are simplifying and consolidating our operations so that we deliver better services for customers, no matter which Westpac brand they use.”

Westpac’s news comes after Commonwealth Bank and ANZ announced they would be offering cash transactions at fewer branches.

Meanwhile, the Westpac group has also been working on consolidating its branches so that two group brands in one area are brought together under a single roof called “co-locations”.

Westpac said it had opened more than 80 co-locations nationally since 2021.

King said integrating cash transactions across the group’s branches would support accessibility for many customers who need it.

“This is part of our broader strategy to provide our customers, including in rural and regional Australia, greater access to banking services through investing in technology, digital services such as our mobile app and video banking, branch footprint and key partnerships,” he said.
